Sensory Pod : Installation
Area : 800 sqft
Location : Ahmedabad, Gujarat

The primary aim was to create an inclusive and easily accessible informal public space, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of visually challenged individuals. The concept centered around facilitating a natural flow within the space, guiding visually impaired users seamlessly through the environment.

To bring this concept to life, the chosen form was 'S,' and the structure was constructed using PVC. The design process involved creating acrylic and paper models to study and represent the envisioned installation. The final structure featured CNC-milled cladding on 8mm Corian, forming a tactile surface that visually impaired users could navigate by touch.

Special attention was given to inclusivity, with Braille signage provided for visually challenged individuals. The Corian cladding, backlit for visibility at night, allowed for a continuous and accessible experience even after dark. The entire structure was crafted from 18mm thick PVC sheets, intricately connected using L-clamps affixed to an MS base.

This thoughtful design not only promotes accessibility but also integrates visually appealing elements for a unique and user-friendly public space.
